Creative Way to Use Audiocassettes

recycled wallet.JPG

Our recent Recycled Crafts program showed teens how to make a wallet out of an old audiocassette tape. With some felt, a zipper, and hot glue, we gave life to an old medium. Here are directions to do it yourself.Decorate them with stickers and markers.

Check out our Teen Flickr photosets for some artsy shots of Dance Dance Revolution players! Next week's program is Recycled Crafts; come make a wallet from an audiocassette or a Hawaiian lei out of grocery bags. (Really!)

Author Visit

Fantasy author Tamora Pierce spoke at the library recently, about her books (Bloodhound is out now!), her cats, her writing life, and even showed us her tattoos! She was a funny speaker who enjoyed answering any question the audience threw her way, and she stayed until late to autograph books and talk some more with fans. See photos on the Teen Flickr Photos page. Cover image

Come in to the library anytime before 5pm today and pick up a bunch of free comic books! They have been provided courtesy of JC's Comics and Cards in Cuyahoga Falls. We have Wolverine (ooh what a hottie, have you seen the new movie yet?), Star Wars Clone Wars, Aliens, The Simpsons, Transformers, The Avengers and more! All FREE for you to keep!

Check out what's NEW!

Have you noticed a new block of text on the lefthand side of our main Teen page? We now have a section called New Arrivals, that automatically lists new books added to the Teen collection. So it's different every day; it constantly searches for New Teen material and lists them there with a link to the catalog so that you can put them on hold. How cool is that?!

What a Silly Saturday!

Congratulations to Zac Cino for winning our annual Silly Saturday scavenger hunt! Zac's prize was a $50.00 Borders giftcard. He found 55 "silly" things in the library, from upside down posters to librarians wearing Christmas sweaters, from scrambled "April Fools" letters to a shelf full of groceries! Thanks to everyone who played this year, and we hope to see you and your friends play again next year. The poster of all of the Silly things is displayed in the library for another couple of days.

Wii Bowling Winners

Congratulations to Lauren Burton, Marcus Thompson, and Evan Fullerton--they were the top three bowlers in our first Wii Bowling Tournament. Each received a GameStop giftcard. All of the players were awesome, I sure can't bowl on the Wii as well as you all did. Check out the photos in our teen Flickr sets. Everyone had a great time and can't wait for the next tournament! You'll be happy to hear that we're going to have many more Wii and Playstation2 gaming days here soon, especially in the summer. Keep your eye on the Events page or our newsletter for the next dates.
