Mario Kart Tournament Winners!

Our first ever Mario Kart tournament for the Wii had 28 racers participate, and in the end, Bryan came out victorious over Halle in the final matchup. Congratulations to them! They won GameStop giftcards, provided by the Friends of the Library, plus bonus swag from Pizza Hut. And Pizza Hut of Stow provided free pizza for all players! Thank you Pizza Hut! Stay tuned for our next Mario Kart tournament.

"Searching for Teen Leaders" is a Project Love-Purple America program that allows individuals to recognize outstanding teen leaders for their extraordinary contributions to their schools, families, and/or communities. The program highlights the accomplishments of teens in grades 7-12. Please help spread the word and recognize Stow and Munroe Falls teens for their great work! Final Eragon Book Title Announced!

In case you haven't yet heard, the final book in Christopher Paolini's Inheritance series is coming out on Nov. 8, 2011, and it will be called Inheritance. (Did you guess that already? Good thing it's not called Eragon Four, that would be boring!) We'll be having an Inheritance book release party on Nov. 7--stay tuned for details!


Congratulations to: Erin Maier, Alexis Xongmixay, and Freesia Yoon, our anime art winners! They received Hobby Lobby giftcards as their prize, courtesy of the Friends of the Library, and we will use Erin's art for promoting Anime Club. Anime Art Contest!

Love to draw anime and manga?  Show off your stuff in our Anime Art Contest! Students in grades 7 through 12 can enter original artwork relating to anime, manga, video games, original characters or fan art.Win $50, $30, or $20 giftcards to Hobby Lobby for free art supplies! The winning artist will also have their design used to promote the library’s Anime Club. All the artwork will be displayed in the library during Spring Break Week, March 19-27. Entries are due by MARCH 8TH, 2011. Click attachments link for complete rules and entry form. One entry per person.

Madden Tournament winners!


Congratulations to Kip M. and Katie W., our MaddenNFL 11 PS3 Tournament winners! Kip came in first, winning the final game against Katie in a tournament of 9 seasoned Madden players. They won $50 and $30 GameStop giftcards, courtesy of GameStop and the Friends of the Library. Thank you to Jay from GameStop for providing the PS3 equipment and expertise.

Best Book of the Year?

Cover image Ship Breaker has won the Michael L. Printz Award for 2011. That means a committee of librarians voted it the best young adult book of the year. I've read it, and I liked it--it's an action-packed adventure set in a future where kids eke out a living by stripping wire from abandoned oil tankers-- but what do YOU think?
