Stop in the storytime room for open play time between 12:30-1:00 p.m. for babies and toddlers through age 3. Toys, music, & books will be available to practice early literacy skills, develop motor skills, or work on social skills while having fun! Grown ups will have the chance to meet other families from our neighborhoods, too!

Kids ages 6-12 can join Miss Chris in the computer lab to play Minecraft during three Monday sessions in June OR July. These sessions will run from 3:00-4:30 pm. When you register, you will be registering for either all three sessions in June or all three sessions in July. All sessions are currently full!
Join us on Friday afternoons June 13 through August 15 for children's movies starting at 1pm. We'll have refreshments and some great kids movies. Feel free to bring blankets or stuffed friends. All movies will be rated G of PG. Check at the library for a list of what movies are coming. No movie will be shown on July 4th. No registration required.
On Wednesday, July 9 at 6 p.m. or 7:30 p.m., join scientists that love to make things pop, ooze, whoosh, spew, gush, burst, blare, blaze, blast, and belch!
Outback Ray's Amazing Animal Show is fun, exciting and very educational. Bring kids of all ages to this entertaining, hands-on program. Outback Ray will bring 10 to 15 captive-born, exotic animals for kids to meet and learn about on Wednesday, July 30 at 6 p.m.
On Wednesday, July 16 at 7 p.m., join members of the University of Akron Alumni Steel Drum Band as they play, educate and involve you in the drumming! Beginning Thursday, July 10, FREE tickets for this event will be available at the children’s desk. You must have a ticket for admittance.
On Wednesday, July 2 at 7 p.m., families and children can join bug educator and scientist Mark Berman as he narrates his video presentation with audience participation. Afterwards, audience members can meet some live bugs!
Join us for our annual Pet Show on Wednesday, June 25 at 7 p.m. Registration begins June 9 for children 12 or younger and their pet (only one pet per child). Any pet that will be outside of a cage is required to show current shot records before the show. Space is limited, so register early! The Pet Show will take place outside in the library’s Reading Garden; pets are not permitted inside the library.
Love Angry Birds? Try your hand at the game with a life-size slingshot & stuffed birds to shoot at block towers. Participants will compete as teams to earn points by knocking down piggie forts built by another team.
Although the program is full, kids ages 9-12 who register for the wait list may come observe the class as an audience. Wait list participants will receive a potions textbook (while they last), can watch the experiments, and can try some of the snacks from Honeydukes.
