If you love beautiful books and like to draw, this program is right for you! On January 16, from 2:00 to 3:00 Miss Joan will review 6 beautifully illustrated picture books that may be in the running for the soon-to-be announced winner of the 2015 Caldecott Award. This award is granted for artwork rather than text. Kids in grades 2 through 5 will look at the wonderful artwork, discuss what they like about each style then vote on a “winner”, and draw an illustration of their own.
Do you like comics and graphic novels? Then this is the perfect program for you! Join Miss Kristin Saturday, January 17 at 11 a.m. for an awesome comics program for kids in kindergarten through 4th grade. Make your own comic, play Kryptonite Hot Potato, make your own superhero name, find out about all kinds of cool comics and graphic novels (including how to download them onto your tablet) and make a superhero mask to help create your new secret identity. We'll also play a game involving guessing the identities of various life-size superhero silhouettes.
Stop by Spike's Place any time between 10AM and 2PM for activities and crafts based on the characters from Marvel's Avengers like Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor. Maybe you'll invent your own Avenger identity!
