Jump, sing, dance, move and more in this active program for toddlers, Fridays, January 15, February 19, March 18, and April 15 at 10:30 a.m. Experience songs, rhymes, imaginative play, dancing and more. Use fun props and practice early literacy skills using active movement.
Is your child creative? Interested in building, problem solving and thinking outside of the box? If so, drop in during one of our children’s maker labs Mondays, January 25, February 29, and March 28 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Experiment with gadgets like our Makey Makey Kit, Squishy Circuits, a 3-D pen, our Star Wars BB8 Sphero, kinetic sand, snap circuits and other traditional arts and crafts supplies. Each month will have different devices and gadgets available. The key to this program is investigation and creativity, and it’s open to kids in kindergarten through 5th grade.
Join Miss Amanda for fantastic stories and children will enjoy a complimentary hot chocolate, syrup crème or iced passion tea. This is a family story time for all ages with no registration required. Please note that the story time takes place in the Stow Starbucks at 4294 Kent Road.
Do you love picture books with beautiful artwork? How about drawing, too? Are you in 2nd through 5th grade? Then this may be the program for you! On January 18th from 1:30 to 2:30 Miss Joan will review 6 beautifully illustrated picture books considered for the 2016 Caldecott Medal. We’ll look at the wonderful artwork, discuss what we like about each style, vote on a “winner”, draw an illustration based on one of the books, and enjoy a snack.

Attention kids, parents and other caregivers: the children’s room will begin offering weekly tech help on Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. to assist you with any tech concerns you may have (except hardware repair). Drop in the day of the program and sign up for a half-hour slot any time between 3 and 5 p.m., and one of our librarians will assist you. Some topics may include, but are not limited to, tablet help (iPad, Kindle, Windows Surface, Android), e-book help, guidance with a specific software application (Microsoft Word, for example), e-mail, Web navigation, etc.
If you finished reading around the world in the Ticket to Read* program, you are invited to celebrate your accomplishment on May 7 at 2:00 p.m. Bring your completed passport to enter the Around the World Party, featuring world music, stories, crafts & food. Bring your family too!

Express Yourself! is back for the winter session! The art club for tweens is now 1 1/2 hours long and features a science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) challenge! Try your hand at different kinds of art then take a STEM challenge break before finishing your projects.
The Force is strong at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library. Get ready for the premiere of the new Star Wars movie by joining us for a drop-in event on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This event, fun for the entire family, includes a movie screening of the original film from 1977, games, crafts, contests, and activities for both children and adults. Special story times will be held throughout the event with an appearance by our new BB-8 Sphero. Teens and adults, enter our trivia contest for Star Wars prizes.
