If you love beautiful books and like to draw, this program is right for you! On January 16, from 2:00 to 3:00 Miss Joan will review 6 beautifully illustrated picture books that may be in the running for the soon-to-be announced winner of the 2015 Caldecott Award. This award is granted for artwork rather than text. Kids in grades 2 through 5 will look at the wonderful artwork, discuss what they like about each style then vote on a “winner”, and draw an illustration of their own.

Do you like comics and graphic novels? Then this is the perfect program for you! Join Miss Kristin Saturday, January 17 at 11 a.m. for an awesome comics program for kids in kindergarten through 4th grade. Make your own comic, play Kryptonite Hot Potato, make your own superhero name, find out about all kinds of cool comics and graphic novels (including how to download them onto your tablet) and make a superhero mask to help create your new secret identity. We'll also play a game involving guessing the identities of various life-size superhero silhouettes.

Escape from Spike's Place!

Have you read the Buckeye Children's Book Award winner Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein?  On Saturday, March 28 from 10:00-11:30 a.m., registered contestants will have the chance to play the game and solve the puzzle to escape from Spike's Place!  Children in grades 4-6 will play as teams to figure out all of the clues in this scavenger hunt.  Mini games during the scavenger hunt will allow winners to choose one of the answers to the clues.  Snacks will be provided just like in the book!

Rockin' Beach Party

Beat the winter blues at our rockin’ beach party on January 31st at 11:00 am!  Join Miss Amy and Miss Chris for stories, music, activities and lots of yummy beach food.  Be sure to bring your beach towel and sunglasses for some fun in the “sun.”  Stories will be geared toward children ages 3-6, but all ages are welcome. Register your entire family beginning January 19, either online or by calling 330-688-3295, ext. 5.

Duplo - Read, Build, Play

Children ages 1-5 and their caregivers can join Miss Chris for a special Lego Duplo Read! Build! Play! class on Friday, December 5 from 10:30-11:15 am.  During this program, we will listen to stories, build with Duplo bricks, sing songs and use our imaginations all in an effort to build literacy skills and have fun!  Space is limited and registration is required. Pokemon Club is a great opportunity to meet other players and share ideas.  Bring your own cards for a chance to play with others.  No trading is permitting during the club.  Unsure of the rules?  Ask others for help learning!  For kids in grades 1-5.  No registration required.
