Poetry Open Mic Night

Join us in celebrating National Poetry Month with an open-mic night.  Read an original poem and enter for the chance to win a $25 cash prize! Prizes will be awarded at the judges’ discretion. The judges are experienced writers from Kent State University. Winners will have their poem featured in the library’s May FinePRINT newsletter and posted on the library’s Facebook page. Open Mic Night is for anyone age 12 and up. Participants may read previously published work but will not be eligible for a prize.

Poetry Writing Workshop

We’re gearing up for National Poetry Month in April with this special Poetry Writing Workshop. Join Amanda Stovicek, Teaching Artist from Kent State University, as she guides you through the expressive art of poetry. This workshop is open to ages 12 and up. All writing levels welcome. UN-Valentine's Day Party

Teens in grades 7-12: tired of all the lovey dovey Valentine’s Day mush? Maybe you’re just not into all this dating stuff. That’s okay! You are invited to the library’s UN Valentine’s Day party! We’ll play UNromantic games like “Musical Chairs of Death” and MAD LIBS UN love letters; have a candy heart stacking contest; make candy “heart breakers” and black roses out of duct tape; play Breakup Song Trivia for prizes, and of course, eat chocolate and broken heart cookies.
