Come and celebrate Arbor Day and Spring at the Stow Tree Festival on Saturday, April 28 from 10AM - 12PM at Silver Springs Lodge in Silver Springs Park! Miss Evie will be telling stories and our SMFPL Pop-Up Library will be on hand to check out library materials right at the festival. This free family event also includes crafts, cookies and a tree planting at 11:30AM. We'll see you there!

All teens who will complete grades 7-12 by May 31, 2018, are encouraged to apply for teen volunteer positions in the children's department. All application packets are available in the children's department.

To be a volunteer, applications, notary forms, and volunteer availability forms are due at one of three mandatory drop-in teen volunteer orientations. Teens must attend one orientation to be eligible to volunteer:

The movie version of Ready Player One, the popular book by Ernest Cline about a teen trying to win a global virtual reality scavenger hunt, premieres on March 30th. Are you a “gunter”? Even if you have never read this exciting science fiction book, you’ll want to hunt some virtual “easter eggs” with us on Wed. March 28th from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Teens in grades 7 and up and adults are invited to drop in and try out retro video game systems like Nintendo and Sega, as well as some newer systems and even virtual reality equipment you can use with just your smartphone!

Japanese Calligraphy Workshop

Learn how to do Japanese Calligraphy from KSU Japan Outreach Coordinator Mr. Haruhide Osugi! In this hands on workshop Mr. Osugi will talk about Japanese culture and teach the basics of Japanese calligraphy to teens and any interested adults. This is an extension activity for our teen Anime Club but anyone is welcome to stop by to participate. No registration necessary.
