The public is invited to attend our Peeps Party, where we will be unveiling the winners of our first ever PEEPS DIORAMA CONTEST. (Click here for rules and entry form.) Participants in the contest as well as everyone at the party will be able to see all of the entries on display in our meeting room; everyone gets to vote for the PEEPLES CHOICE AWARD winner! Refreshments will be served (possibly some fresh peeps!).
Peeped into any good books recently? In honor of National Library Week, let your imagination run to Peeps! Create a diorama depicting your favorite book or story using marshmallow Peeps®, and enter the first-ever SMFPL Peeps Diorama Contest! For kids (ages 4-11), teens (ages 12-18), and grownups too (ages 19+)! Prizes--awarded in each age category-- include Peeps toys and Target giftcards, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. Enter by yourself or as part of a team. Turn in your entry on Mon. April 14 between 9am-8:30pm to either the Children’s or Adult Information desks.
Teens in grades 7-12: join us to celebrate the premiere of the movie based on the hit book series! Dress in the colors of your favorite Faction as we celebrate each Faction in a unique way--from Dauntless chocolate cake and fake tattoos/body painting, to book trivia fit for an Erudite, and more! Bring a canned food item for our Abnegation food drive if you can. Win prizes including a Divergent Illustrated Movie Companion Book and a Regal Cinemas Giftcard!
How good are your observational skills? Play our annual APRIL FOOL’S DAY scavenger hunt, and you and your family could win a $75 giftcard to Books A Million! Drop by the library any time between 9am and 4pm on Saturday March 29 and search for OUT OF PLACE or UNUSUAL items in the library. Teens in grades 7 to 12 will get to play Chocolate Jeopardy and Oreo Stacking and other chocolate games; win chocolate prizes; taste-test different chocolate from around the world; decorate chocolate cupcakes; and more! People who are convinced they cannot draw a Zentangle often find within 15 minutes they have easily accomplished what they thought was impossible. Join Certified Zentangle Teacher, Deborah Phelps Miller as she leads you step-by-step through this beginner’s Zentangle class.

Bring the family (grades K-12) to the library any time between 10am and 4pm to play some classic board games like Sorry, Life, Candyland, and Chutes & Ladders. Learn how to play new games you may not be familiar with, like Settlers of Catan or Labyrinth. Play Magic: The Gathering (bring your own deck), The Great Dalmudi and other fun card games! Play Sequence Dice, Dungeon Dice, Yahtzee & other dice games! A wide variety of games will be available to try out.
