Coding Boot Camp: Pre-Coding

Students in 6th-12th grades, learn how to code during this Spring Break Coding Boot Camp! The Tuesday session is pre-coding, for learning the basics. Wednesday we will learn to make a text-based game using Python, and on Thursday learn to build a website with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Space is limited to 12 participants; registration required. All participants must attend the Tuesday pre-coding workshop, and can choose to attend either or both of the other two days. If you have your own laptop and can bring it with you, please do!

Winners of our Peeps Diorama Contest will be announced at our Peeps Party: Monday, April 1, 7 – 7:30 PM. All participants and the public are invited to attend, where they will be able to see all of the entries on display and vote for the Peeple’s Choice Award.

This program is cosponsored by the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library and the Friends of the Library.

High school students and parents will learn strategies on how to pay for college without going broke. Come learn the number one way to get more free money for college; how to get the maximum amount of financial aid; why talented students may not receive financial aid; the secret to positioning your finances to get merit and needs-based aid; and tips on the ACT, SAT, & AP exams.

Teens in grades 7 - 12 can earn gift cards to Amazon, Chipotle, and GameStop, as well as free books to keep, by reading and logging books during the Teen Winter Reading Challenge 2020, which runs from January 2 to February 29, 2020. You can register at smfpl.beanstack.org anytime, or download the Beanstack Tracker app. Read and log at least one book per week to be eligible for the weekly random prize drawings. To be eligible for the $25 Target gift card Grand Prize drawing at the conclusion of the program, you must log at least five books.

Congratulations! You have been selected to join witches, wizards, muggles, and squibs from around the world at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Your term begins during our 3rd Annual Harry Potter Book Night festivities on Thursday, February 7, 2019, from 6-8 PM. Please wear your wizarding robes, quidditch gear, or any other magical clothing. If you have a wand, please bring it with you. All other supplies--magical creatures and live owls; crafts and activities; photo opportunities and magical displays--will be supplied by the Friends of the Library.

Sign up for a library card anytime during the month of September and receive an incredible tote bag (while supplies last)!
