All of the amateur photographers who entered the Photography Contest, and their guests, are invited to join us for the unveiling of this year's entries in our contest exhibition. Winning entries will be revealed, and awards given to winning photographers. Schedules permitting, some of our contest judges may be on hand for questions and tips about photography. Refreshments and prizes provided courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to spend an evening at the library after hours, as part of a nationwide event. Our teens will “virtually” meet teens from over 50 other libraries around the country and have fun in the library at night! Activities will include:

Showcase your photography skills during our upcoming Amateur Photography Contest at the library. Photos may be submitted to the Adult and Teen Information Desk anytime on Tues., August 4 [9 a.m. - 9 p.m.].
Join our team of 7th and 8th grade readers as they compete against teams from Hudson Library, Cuyahoga Falls Library, the Akron-Summit County Public Library, and Twinsburg Public Library in this fast-paced book trivia game (think Academic Challenge, using buzzers). Teams answer questions based on the following four books they all read over the summer: The Compound, by S.A. Bodeen; Okay For Now, by Gary Schmidt; The Last Dragonslayer, by Jasper Fforde; and Ungifted, by Gordon Korman.

For youth ages 5 to 17 who are familiar with the basic rules of chess. No signup necessary. Instruction is from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m., and game play is from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30.
