Show off your creative juices in our Teen Read Week Creative Writing Contest. Submit your own original peom or short story in the theme of "Unleash Your Story!" and you could win cash prizes and writing journals. Entries are due during Teen Read Week, Oct. 8-14.

PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW ALL RULES FOR ENTRY SUBMISSION

You may enter the contest if you are between the ages of 12 and 18 by Oct. 14, 2017

•The contest has two age divisions: 12-14 and 15-18. Prizes in each age division: 1st place: $25.00 and journal/ 2nd place $20.00 and journal /3rd place: $15.00 and journal

Be creative! Write a poem (up to 300 words) or a short story (up to 1,500 words). Only one entry per person, please.

• Manuscripts that are illegible, single-spaced or that otherwise don’t meet the following requirements will not be judged.

• Do NOT put your name anywhere on your manuscript. That information should be ONLY on the entry form.

• Double-space and TYPE or PRINT LEGIBLY in black or blue ink on 8 1/2” by 11” (standard) paper. Do not use lined notebook paper.

• Include the title and page number in the upper right-hand corner of EVERY page.

• A completed and signed entry form MUST accompany your entry.

HOW TO ENTER

• Enter online (see link below) or drop off your entry at the Teen Information Desk at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, between Oct. 8-14.

• Before you submit your entry:

1. Double-check that you have adhered to all instructions.

2. If submitting at the library, staple your manuscript and completed entry form together.

4. If submitting online, save your entry as a PDF file.

3. Don’t be late! The final deadline for entries is Saturday, October 14 at 5:00pm.You may enter between Oct. 8-14.

Do NOT send your only copy of your entry. Keep a copy for yourself. MANUSCRIPTS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.

• All entries are judged on the basis of content, originality and quality of expression. Judges’ decisions are final. Judges do not critique entries. All entries are anonymous when given to the judges.

• Winners will be notified after Nov. 1st.
