This article was written to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the official opening of the P&O Canal. The canal ran from New Castle, Pa. through Youngstown, Niles, Newton Falls, Ravenna, Franklin Mills (now Kent), Munroe Falls, and Cuyahoga Falls, to downtown Akron.
