How to Sign Up for a Library Card

Sign up for a library card in person at the front Checkout Desk. If you are over 18, we will need to see a picture ID with proof of your address. If you’ve just moved to the area, a utility bill in your name, along with a photo ID will do. Patrons under 18 should bring a parent or legal guardian to sign for their cards. Parents or legal guardians may choose whether or not to allow their minor children to have internet access at the library and also whether or not their children may check out DVDs and/or video games.

Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library is an independent library, so our library cards are not interchangeable with cards from other libraries. We are happy to get materials from other libraries on your behalf, though. If there is anything you’re looking for and can’t find, please let us know.

Renewals from Home

You can renew borrowed items in person at the Circulation Desk, or by phone at (330) 688-3295 ext. 3. You can also renew items online. Visit, login to “Your Account,” and select “Renew” next to the desired item. Certain items, including materials that other patrons have reserved, may not be renewed. We cannot renew items if the borrower's library fines exceed $5.00.

Drive-Up Window

The drive-up window is on the west side of the library building (the side farthest from Rt. 91). It offers fast, convenient service. Just remember the following:

  • Materials must be reserved in advance for pick-up at the window—Call (330) 688-3295 ext. 3
  • Please have your library card or ID ready when you drive up
  • We cannot collect fines at the window (you’ll have to come inside if you need to pay a fine)
  • No pedestrians allowed in the drive-up lane—We want you to be safe
  • The drive-up window closes 15 minutes before the library building closes

Hard to Find Item? Try Search Ohio!

Search Ohio LogoSearchOhio provides access to a catalog of more than ten million items, searchable from our Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library catalog. Search our catalog for your selection, and if the item is not available, you will be referred to the SearchOhio catalog. In addition, you can search for research papers and journal articles in OhioLINK.

SearchOhio requires a valid library card, which you will need to enter when ordering materials. It will typically take between three to five days for your item to arrive. SearchOhio items arrive daily at the library. In return, our library shares our collection with other SearchOhio libraries, as items are requested. Lending periods are seven days for DVD's and three weeks for books, and can be renewed by calling the library in advance of the due date. Overdue fees are fifty cents per day for SearchOhio items. Damaged or lost items incur a flat $25 fee for SearchOhio items, and $125 fee for OhioLINK items. Because the charges are set by the SearchOhio consortium, these fines cannot be waived.
