Marantz Symposium Comics ExtravaganzaMarantz Symposium Comics Extravaganza22Library staff showcased our library's services during this comic book author event held at Kent State University, and some of our library teens cosplayed at the event. Teen Librarian Christina and Children's Librarian (and Marantz board member) Chris offered prizes to attendees (librarians, college students and teachers) who spun the Comics Character Wheel and correctly identified the comic/anime character. Authors and artists signed their books and talked with fans, and promoted their work.

Children's Talent Show 2018Children's Talent Show 20186Stow-Munroe Falls has talent! Children up to age 11 shared their special talents at our first talent show. There was singing, dancing, jokes, musical numbers, and more!
Battle of the books 2018Battle of the books 201813Our team of teens emerged victorious in this year's battle against teams from Akron, Twinsburg, Cuyahoga Falls, and Hudson libraries. We won the Semi-Final battle and then the Final battle against last year's winners, Hudson. Congratulations, team! This year's battle was held at the Twinsburg Library.
Teen Author FestTeen Author Fest30The library hosted four YA authors (one of whom is an accomplished comic strip artist as well) in an afternoon of literary love. Teens attended a writing workshop taught by one of our authors, Jody Casella, mingled with the authors, bought their books and got autographs, and a lucky 6 won raffle prizes of more autographed books. Everyone got to take home a free paperback book, too, courtesy of The Learned Owl Bookshop. The event was sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Pop-Up Library at Maplewood PoolPop-Up Library at Maplewood Pool10Throughout the summer the library "pops up" at some local spots to provide a story time for kids and to showcase the library's resources. People can walk up and get a library card and also check out items, from books to DVDs to our new Eclectic Collection, which includes this "Jumbie Jam" steel drum!
Hamilton ThrowdownHamilton Throwdown41Teens were excited to be "in the room where it happened"! They competed in Hamilton musical and history trivia games, faced off in "lyric duels" (complete with Nerf guns!), sang Hamilton karaoke, and made Hamilton-themed bottlecap necklaces. Rise up!
