The Ohio Department of Aging's Golden Buckeye program connects Ohio businesses with older adults and people with disabilities. The businesses offer cardholders special savings, such as discounts, waived fees, free products or services, and more.

Age 60 and older

If you have a current Ohio Driver's License or State ID card, you should automatically receive your Golden Buckeye Card from the Ohio Department of Aging. Look for it during the month before your 60th birthday.

If you don’t receive your card automatically, please call the Ohio Department of Aging at 1-800-422-1976. Staff will process your information in order to issue you a temporary card.

Age 18 - 59

People under age 60 who are eligible due to disability must apply for a Golden Buckeye card at a sign-up site. These include most public libraries and senior centers. You can sign up for a Golden Buckeye Card at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's Checkout Desk.

To prove your eligibility, you'll need to bring your Ohio Driver's License or State Id and ONE of the following:

  • A Medicare (not Medicaid) card in your name;
  • SSI or SSDI acceptance documentation; or
  • A copy of a document certifying permanent and total disability issued by any state department, Ohio public employee retirement system (STRS, PERS, etc), or any federal retirement system.

The Ohio Department of Aging cannot accept any other form of proof of disability, such as a letter from your doctor.

Replacement Cards

You can call the Ohio Department of Aging at 1-800-422-1976 to request a replacement Golden Buckeye card if:

  • Your Golden Buckeye card has been lost, stolen, or damaged
  • Your name has changed or the name on your card is wrong
