Donations for Book Sales

Donations of books and other materials for Book Sales are accepted anytime at the Library circulation desk. On special Donation Days curb service is provided at the back door of the Library. Passes for the Friends Pre-Sale will be awarded to those who donate 10 or more items. Donations are tax deductible.

What happens to book donations?

The Library may choose to select unique donations, best sellers or special items for its own collection. All donated items are examined for quality, classified and organized by the Friends volunteers. Contributions are priced for the Book Sales, boxed and stored. Prior to each sale, materials are displayed for our customers in a well-ordered fashion including special divisions for puzzles and audio-visual materials. This process takes countless hours and requires the support of many. At the conclusion of the Book Sales, unsold items are offered to teachers and non-profit organizations at no cost. The few items that remain are recycled for further profit to the Library and to avoid the landfill. The Friends strive to present a fresh selection of materials at each Sale.
