Early school readiness starts before birth. Sharing stories with your child builds vocabulary and creates a homelife that ensures positive attitudes for reading in school. If you read three books a day, you will reach 1,000 books in less than a year!

Taking part in the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library is as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Any child who has not started kindergarten can sign up at the library.

2. Keep track of any books that are read to your child. Books read by teachers and other family members count, too, as do multiple readings of the same book. You can download the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten App for free. If you prefer you can also keep track on paper or online at our interactive reading program site smfpl.beanstack.org

3. For every 100 books you read, come in to Spike’s Place and show us your reading record. Your child will receive a small incentive. Once you’ve read 1,000 books, your child will receive a free book and a special canvas book tote!
