2018 Winter Reading Challenge

2018 Winter Reading for Adults

Join the 2018 Adult Winter Reading Challenge

Read, log, and win!

Welcome to the inaugural Adult Winter Reading Challenge! Adults 18 and over can join in the winter reading fun by reading and logging books from January 1 - February 28, 2018.

Over 100 libraries around the world will encourage their communities to read books. You will be eligible for weekly drawings and the top reader will receive a great prize. If we reach the nationwide goal, "Shark Tank" investor Mark Cuban will donate $25,000 to the organization "First Book," which provides new books, learning materials, and other essentials to children in need.

  • Register at smfpl.beanstack.org to participate.
  • Log at least one book per week to be eligible for weekly random drawings of gift cards.
  • To be eligible for the grand prize gift card at the conclusion of the program, log at least five books from January 1 to February 28, 2018.
  • If you registered at smfpl.beanstack.org last summer for Adult Summer Reading, you're all set...no need to register again, just start reading your favorite books and logging them in.
  • Need help registering or logging a book? Ask the staff at the Information Desk!

2018 Winter Reading for Teens grades 6-12

Teen Winter Reading Challenge

Join the Teen Winter Reading Challenge! Our library is participating in this challenge with over 100 other libraries around the world. We challenge all teens in grades 6 to 12 to read at least 6 books during the months of January and February, and track those books online using smfpl.beanstack.org. Every book you read and every book review you write will earn you a ticket in the Grand Prize Drawings: ten winners will earn giftcards from iTunes, Chipotle, Target or GameStop, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. But this is a charity program as well: libraries around the country will encourage their communities to read a target number of books. If we reach the nationwide goal, "Shark Tank" investor Mark Cuban will donate $25,000 to the organization "First Book," which provides new books, learning materials, and other essentials to children in need.
