Readers of all ages can register online at smfpl.beanstack.org today, and enroll in Summer Reading on Mon., June 1.
If you participated in Beanstack last year, log in to check your password and update your phone number and email address.

drawstring bag with shiny red capeKeep track of every day you spend some time reading between Mon., June 1 and Sat., August 1, and you can win prizes and enter the grand prize drawing. This program is open to children from newborns up through age 11.

Create an account online at smfpl.beanstack.org today, and enroll in Summer Reading on Mon., June 1. If you participated in Beanstack last year, log in to check your password and update your phone number and email address.

For every ten days' worth of reading you log on Beanstack, you will earn a virtual badge and a virtual ticket to enter a grand prize drawing. Kids who read for 10 days will win a dragon squirter, and kids who read for 50 days will win a superhero drawstring backpack, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

Register for our online Teen Summer Reading Program beginning June 1 at smfpl.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack Tracker app. If you participated last year, log in to your existing Beanstack account, update your age, phone number and email address, and join this year’s program.

Use Beanstack to earn virtual “badges” when you log your reading and summer activities, and those badges will make you eligible to win weekly prizes. You can read books or graphic novels, or listen to audiobooks. Each title you read earns one badge in that week's drawing. Activities include visiting virtual museums, parks and other online attractions around the world, making crafts, reviewing books, listening to new podcasts, and more.

Prizes include free new books (to be picked up at the library drive-up window or checkout desk July 20-August 1) and digital gift cards for Amazon, GameStop and Chipotle. One lucky reader will win the grand prize: a $75 Amazon digital gift card. The more you read and do this summer, the more chances you have to win prizes, including the grand prize.

Virtual Programs for Teens

Young Writers Club - Tuesdays at 7 PM, June 9, 23, and 30; July 7, 14, and 21
Want to write stories or poems, but don't know where to start? Or do you want help editing your work to make sure your creations stand out? Write and learn with your peers in the 7th-12th grades (ages 12-18) in the Young Writers Club. These 6 one-hour online sessions are led by Jimmy Miller, magazine editor and 2018 Akron High Arts Festival literary arts champion. Attend all 6 or as many as you like. Sessions will take place on Google Meet. Registration required; we will email you the meeting link each week. There will be a weekly drawing for prizes from area businesses and attractions that you can use when restrictions are lifted. If you are a weekly winner, your prize will be mailed to you! Be sure to log books every week to have more chances to win and be eligible for the grand prize drawing for Visa gift cards at the conclusion of the program August 1.
