Read 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

For any child who has not started kindergarten

School readiness starts at birth. Sharing stories with your child builds vocabulary and creates a home life that ensures positive attitudes for reading in school. If you read three books a day, you will reach 1,000 books in less than a year.

Any child who has not started kindergarten can sign up at the library or online at smfpl.beanstack.org.

Keep track of any books that are read to your child. If you read a book more than once, count it more than once. Books read by teachers and other family members count, too. You can keep track of your books on the Beanstack app.

For every 100 books you read, come in to Spike's Place and your child will receive a milestone sticker. When you've read 1,000 books, your child will receive a tote bag celebrating their achievement.
