Reasons Why We Purchased an Outreach Vehicle

  • Why did the Library Purchase an Outreach Vehicle?

An important part of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library mission is to provide library services to those that need it the most within our community. Senior citizens in assisted care facilities and children in day care centers constitute that need. Senior citizens in assisted care facilities and children’s day care centers have come to depend upon our steady dependable services. Our Outreach program has grown steadily. Presently we serve 10 assisted care facilities and 14 day care centers.

  • Why did you choose a Honda Element to be your library vehicle?

We choose the Honda Element for its large cargo capacity, fuel economy, safety, reliability, and cost. This vehicle was built in East Liberty Ohio.

  • How much did you pay for the vehicle?

    We paid $20,000.

  • Why doesn’t Outreach staff use their own vehicles to deliver materials to assisted care living facilities and day cares?

For the past several years, staff has been reimbursed for mileage when making Outreach visits with their personal vehicles. However, as the number of Outreach facilities within Stow and Munroe Falls in which we provide services increased, the cargo load increased as well. We discovered that staff vehicles weren’t capable enough to transport the hundreds of pounds of books and materials safely.
