Q. How do I send my question to library staff?
A. To use this service, type your question in the body / text of the message. Send your text to (330) 577-3237 or (330) 57READS (Google Voice Number).
Q. When should I use the “Text SMFPL” service?
A. The service is good for quick, simple questions that can be answered with short responses (160 characters or less). For more involved questions, please contact the Children’s or Information Desk by calling the library @ (330) 688-3295 or visit the library in person.
Q. What do I need to use this service?
A. A cell phone enabled to send and receive text messages.
Q. Is “Text SMFPL” free?
A. Although the library does not charge for this service, you may see a charge for incoming text messages at a rate determined by your cell phone carrier. In many cases, there is a character limit on text messages (typically 140-160 characters, including spaces). Each carrier handles this situation differently. Some customers with character limits won’t see the full text of the library’s response to their question. Other providers will break the response up into separate text messages.
Q. How long does it take to receive a reply?
A. This service is provided Monday through Saturday during the library’s hours of operation. Patrons visiting the library in person will have priority. However, we will answer your question as soon as we are able, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Questions received after hours will be answered when service hours resume. If you don’t receive a response to your question within 48 hours, it may be due to a telecommunications problem, so you may want to resubmit your question by calling the library @ (330) 688-3295. The library is not responsible for text messages that are not received by the library or delays due to telecommunications carrier or Internet connectivity delays or failures.
Q. Anything else I should know?
A. By sending a text message to our “Text SMFPL” service, you give the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library permission to reply to your text message. Responses will be sent to the phone used to ask the question.
