Photo Contest winners announced

Congratulations to our Amateur Photo Contest winners! See most of the winning entries here (a few winners are still sending me their digital photos, so check back later for more). We had a stellar show this year, with 44 teen entries and 93 adult entries. The winner of our inaugural Stephen Pierce Memorial People's Choice Award was Brodie Sadowski.

Congratulations summer winners!


What a great summer reading program we had! There were 148 teen readers this year who read a whopping 1,281 books and wrote 77 reviews of those books! Way to go! Congratulations to Maya H., the winner of our $75 Grand Prize giftcard! We still have a few weekly prize winners who have not come in yet to pick up their prizes; if you were notified by voicemail or email that you were a winner, please come in soon to choose your free books to keep! Thanks everyone and have a great autumn!

If you are a rising 7th to 12th grader and you aren't logging books you've read this summer and activities you've done, go to smfpl.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack Tracker app today! Log your reading so you can win Chipotle giftcards and GameStop giftcards in our weekly drawings--and have a chance to win the $75 Amazon giftcard Grand Prize! The last day to enter is August 1.

Announcing Teen Summer Grand Prize Winner


Congratulations to our Grand Prize winner, Graci Puhala, randomly selected from all 188 participants in our Teen Summer Reading program. She won $75 in Amazon giftcards, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. Congratulations also to all of our weekly winners, you guys all did a great job. Have a good rest of the summer and we'll see you in the library this fall!

Check out our new Playaway Locks!

Want to read an e-book but don't have an electronic device to read it on? Try one of our new Playaway Locks, available in the Teen Area of the library. A Lock is similar to a Kindle Paperwhite, it is a tablet-like touchscreen device pre-loaded with several teen e-books. No downloading necessary.

Awards time!

The Michael L. Printz Award winners have been announced for 2017--the award for most distinguished book for teens published last year, as chosen by a national committee of librarians. The winner is March, Volume 3, by John Lewis Cover image, a graphic novel version of the true story of Civil Rights pioneer John Lewis. The Honor books (runners-up) are:

Star Wars: Rogue One Premiere Party this Saturday!

The Force is strong at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library this month. Get ready for the premiere of the new Star Wars movie by joining us on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This drop-in family event has activities for all! Teens and adults: enter our trivia contest to win a hardback copy of SW: Catalyst (A Rogue One Novel) by James Luceno, and come in costume for a chance to win a $20 Regal Cinemas giftcard!
