The Michael L. Printz Award winners have been announced for 2017--the award for most distinguished book for teens published last year, as chosen by a national committee of librarians. The winner is March, Volume 3, by John Lewis , a graphic novel version of the true story of Civil Rights pioneer John Lewis. The Honor books (runners-up) are:

The Force is strong at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library this month. This fall you have a chance to vote for your favorite books in two contests, the Buckeye Teen Book Award, which is just for teens in Ohio, and the YALSA Teens Top Ten, which is for teens all across the United States. To vote for the Buckeye (and to nominate your favorite books for next year's Buckeye!) go to this website. Any teen in the state of Ohio can nominate for the Buckeyes.

The teen department was pleased to host Buckeye Teen Book Award-nominated author Mindy McGinnis for National Library Week. Ms. McGinnis talked about creating her books Not a Drop to Drink, In a Handful of Dust, and A Madness So Discreet, as well as giving tips on how aspiring writers can get published, and some sneak previews of her next two books soon to be published.
Starting today we have added PLAYSTATION 4 and XBOX ONE games to our video game collection. You'll find them on PURPLE and WHITE cards. And, we have split the collection so that the cards for all games rated E or E10+ are now located in boxes in the Children's Department, upstairs. All cards for games rated T for Teen and M for Mature are still located in the Teen Area. All check out is still done at the downstairs checkout desk, as before.
