Sign up for Texts from the Teen Librarian!

remind 101 image.PNG

Find out what teen programs are going on at the library with this handy free service! Send a text message (@smf) to (442) 333-7579, then reply to the text you receive with your full name, and you’ll receive once or twice-a-month texts from the Teen Librarian letting you know what teen events are coming up, or teen volunteer opportunities. We are using Remind101, a secure web-based service, so your phone number remains private; no one (including the librarian) will ever see it. To opt-out, text ‘unsubscribe @smf’ to (442) 333-7579. Standard text message rates apply.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit...

Hobbits

Our Hobbit Celebration was a fun time by all: costume contest (winners pictured), "ring cookies" and other snacks, a craft to make Hobbit Feet, and a Swarven Rune translation contest. Plus we played Hobbit Jeopardy and talked about what we hope to see in the new movie. Thanks to everyone who came to our celebration, and to the Friends of the Library for providing our food and prizes: a Hobbit poster and book, a bobblehead Hobbit, and two giftcards to Regal cinemas to see the new movie.

Congratulations to our winners!

Win an autographed book! Write a review of any book you’ve recently read, for a chance to WIN an autographed copy of Libba Bray’s new book, The Diviners. Plus a bonus: choose either a fedora hat or a feathered headband! (since the book is set in the 1920's, you'll look jazzy in these accessories!)

Reminder to pick up Photo Contest Photos!

If you entered our summer Photo Contest, please remember to come pick up your photo entries this week or early next week. (we're closed on Sunday and Monday for Labor Day.) Any photos not picked up by Sept. 7 will be thrown away. Thanks!

Zombies Came to the Library!

Thanks to everyone who came to our end of Teen Summer Reading party, the Zombie Lock-In! We had fun playing games like Minute to Win It and on the Wii, made Zombie Barbies and talked to authors Carrie Ryan and Ilsa Bick. We also got made up to look like zombies and then danced to Michael Jackson's Thriller: take a look! And here are photos of the lock-in.
