The Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library Seed Library

Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library Seed Library

Help sow the seeds of sustainability! The Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library invites patrons of all ages to start gardening by “borrowing” seeds from our seed library. Patrons may “check out” up to five unique seed packets per library visit starting April 1. The best part is you get to keep the seeds!

The purpose of a seed library is to encourage patrons to take home seeds to plant, let some go to seed, and then return some of these “next generation” seeds for others to borrow. All we ask is that patrons donate only non-invasive species. For a complete list of non-invasive species, visit the Ohio Department of Agriculture or click below to download a printable list.

While we welcome donations, it is not necessary to donate after “borrowing” seed packets. We want to encourage patrons to try something new that can be sustainable and enjoyable. The library will have a variety of herb, vegetable, and flower seeds available.

This project is an expansion of the Eclectic Collection and the Little Sprouts Nature Explorers program.

How to borrow seeds

Patrons may "check out" five unique seed packets per visit. Take seed packets to the Adult Information Desk to check out.

How to donate seeds

Seed donations are not required to check out seeds from the seed library, but those who wish to do so should make sure they are clean and dry. We have envelopes available for seeds. Please specify the seed type, variety, and date collected and turn them in at the Adult Information Desk. Please do not put seeds out on your own.
